What We Believe

Using improvement essentials and improvement science methodology, we listen to educators and work with them to develop and test change ideas.

FIVE IMPROVEMENT ESSENTIALS FORM THE FOUNDATION FOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT

We help schools purposefully improve in five essential areas: human capital, curriculum planning, lesson delivery, school & classroom procedures, and school culture. Without this foundation, improvement is far less likely to happen.

1.

HUMAN
CAPITAL

A mission-aligned human capital management system for recruitment, selection, hiring and training.

2.

CURRICULUM PLANNING

A comprehensive curriculum design process utilizing the backwards planning model.

3.

LESSON DELIVERY

Lessons with a laser-like focus on student achievement using the gradual release model of instruction.

4.

SCHOOL & CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

Procedures that maximize learning time with students.

5.

SCHOOL CULTURE

A positive, joyous school culture enables rigorous and engaging learning to thrive.

IMPROVEMENT SCIENCE IS A SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL MODEL FOR IMPROVEMENT

Talk of education reform is everywhere, but few people seem happy with the state of school improvement. Genuine user-centered change efforts are few and far between. Most change efforts are done to teachers instead of with them. That’s why we developed our improvement science process. Designed specifically for high-poverty schools, the goal is to develop the necessary know-how within your organizational context for change ideas to spread faster and more effectively.
