At the School Performance Institute, we have spent more than a decade identifying the organizational features of successful schools and learning how to purposefully organize our own schools for improvement and success. Our site review work is built upon this experience.

Overview:

Schools are complex systems, and improving them requires coherent, orchestrated action sustained over time across a number of Essential Organizational Features, which include:

  1. EFFECTIVE LEADERS

  2. COLLABORATIVE TEACHERS

  3. INVOLVED FAMILIES

  4. SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT

  5. AMBITIOUS INSTRUCTION

The School Site Review uses observation, performance, and survey data to provide a description of a school’s performance on the Essential Organizational Features as well as insight into a number of other variables that play a role in a school’s improvement context including: community context, school structural factors, and relational trust.

School leaders will receive a comprehensive report and a custom-crafted set of recommendations organized around the Essential Organizational Features. At the School Performance Institute, we have spent more than a decade identifying the organizational features of successful schools and learning how to purposefully organize our own schools for improvement and success.  Our site review work is built upon this experience as well as important work in this area conducted by the University of Chicago’s Consortium on School Research.
