John A. Dues
SPI Director & USN Chief Learning Officer
John A. Dues is the founding Director of the School Performance Institute, a new social enterprise division of the United Schools Network (USN). He also serves as the Chief Learning Officer of USN, a network of high-performing public charter schools in Columbus, Ohio. Previously, he has served as a School Director and Dean of Academics at USN. Under John’s leadership, USN schools have regularly been among the state and nation’s highest performing urban schools. In 2013, John was recognized as the Ohio School Leader of the Year by the Ohio Alliance for Public Charter Schools.
Prior to joining USN, John taught in and led schools in Atlanta, Georgia; Denver, Colorado; and Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated with Honors from Miami (OH) University, holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Cincinnati, and is an alumnus of Teach For America. John and his wife Jen are the proud parents of Jack, Allie, and Will.
Strategy & Operations Manager
As an integral part of School Performance Institute, Laura merges her passion for creative marketing and design with her experience in brand strategy, project development and execution, and personnel management. Her goal is to build the SPI brand, helping SPI become a leader in education training, and transforming the lives of disadvantaged students by engaging and motivating educators with SPI’s best practices. She is focused on going above and beyond to provide inspiring learning experiences from beginning to end.
For ten years prior to joining SPI, Laura led creative and account teams as the vice president of Summerfield, a creative agency in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Chatham College with majors in Media Arts and Visual Arts. In 2014, she was recognized as one of Columbus Business First’s Forty under 40 and is a graduate of Leadership Columbus (Class of 2014). In her free time, Laura enjoys eating her way through many tacos, dancing with her three kids, and traveling with her husband.
